What’s the difference between constantly feeling intimidated, unable,
and at the mercy of your environment – and feeling like no set of
circumstances can ever prevent you from achieving your goals?
Courage Consciousness.
What is Courage Consciousness?
Courage is the level of consciousness whereby you openly acknowledge,
recognize, and assess risk – but move forward with action in spite of
it.
Limits become things to be tested, not avoided.
You don’t become reckless in your behavior, but you don’t allow your
fleeting emotional state to dictate what you’re capable of undertaking
at any given moment.
Courage is the diametric opposite of fear.
This is precisely what makes it the turning point/threshold level that it is.
In his stellar book “Transcending The Levels of Consciousness”,
Dr. David Hawkins lays out a very insightful scale of human
consciousness, that not only speaks volumes on the human condition, but
also enables us to empower ourselves by learning our current position on
said scale.
Of all the 17 levels of consciousness, Courage is the level where the greatest shifts begin to happen.
According to Dr. Hawkins, Courage Consciousness is the level where
individuals begin seeing life as an exciting challenge for growth,
rather than simply an obligation to/for biological perpetuation.
Dr. Hawkins also goes on to describe how more than two thirds of
humanity at this time is below the level of Courage Consciousness, and
thus this is said to account for some of the chaos, malady, and repeated
violence we see in our world at present.
Those calibrated below the level of Courage are locked in at the levels of Fear, Apathy, and Anger Consciousness.
As you’ll see, these levels are suboptimal for goal achieving, genuine happiness, and fulfillment.
A HUGE Shift in Motivations!
Now, there’s a very important distinction to be made here regarding motivations:
At the levels of Fear Consciousness and LOWER, your prime motivations are going to be to MOVE AWAY FROM things you currently perceive as being uncomfortable/painful.
At the levels of Courage Consciousness and HIGHER, your prime motivations become MOVING TOWARD those same circumstances, because you recognize them as genuine growth experiences.
Lower levels, according to Hawkins, require Force in order to do anything with them.
This is because they are all founded in resistance to Truth and Love.
All of your motivation is driven by the urge “to avoid penalty”.
You take actions in your life for the sole purpose of avoiding punishment and penalty.
You only have a day job because it’s better than being homeless.
You’re in a failing relationship because it’s better than being alone.
You keep showing up to work because if you don’t pay your bills, you can’t eat, etc.
Your entire existence is fueled by actions which are driven by avoidance of a perceived unpleasant experience.
Higher levels of consciousness are active, purposeful, and constructive/holistic.
Unlike Force, which is required for all levels below that of Courage – you begin exercising genuine Power.
Motivation here is driven by the urge to create, share, and assist.
You step into the true Power of your consciousness, and become congruent with the way the universe actually operates.
Because you are now consciously aligned with the way the universe
operates, synchronicity begins manifesting with higher frequency to
assist you.
Actions are taken from a place of love and assistance, and the lower level nagging of chasing security melts away.
You no longer allow fear to keep you at that job or in that
relationship – and you learn to see and understand that reality actually
supports you more when you defy your social programming than when you
rely on it.
Courage is the level where serious synchronicity starts taking place,
because you actively move outside of your comfort zone in regards to
behavior.
If you behave the exact same way for a decade or more – is it any wonder why your reality never changes?
Transitioning to Courage Consciousness
For those approaching the level of courage, your lower level fears are still going to appear real to you.
This happens at every stage of conscious evolution; the previous
stage begins to fade, but still “bleeds through” into the next for a
short time.
This is natural, expected, and nothing to lose sleep over.
The REAL key here is to become as congruent with the next level as possible, while minimizing your participation in the previous level as much as possible.
You’ll know you’re ready for Courage Consciousness when you stop
feeding fear thinking, and simply get sick of getting screwed by the
world at large. “Why keep showing up to a thankless job for minimal
pay at maximal abuse? I’d rather be homeless than deal with this
soul-suckery any longer; screw it!”
While it appears immature to some, this is precisely the level of thinking that involves Courage.
You have faith in yourself that you can make things work even in the worse possible scenario.
Ever notice how people immediately assume the worst possible outcome when contemplating options?
That’s the epitome of Fear Consciousness.
When you start weighing your options, and realize that you could
still kick ass even in the worst possible outcome, you’ve successfully
embraced Courage Consciousness.
When you behave courageously, you start to see that your worst expectations very rarely if ever manifest in reality.
Even if the worst case scenario did occur…you’d be prepared to deal with it optimally.
Courage Consciousness is The Gateway!
The purpose of this article is to inspire you to begin actively transcending the lower levels of consciousness that you may currently be occupying.
Courage is quite literally THE dividing line between personal strength and empowerment, and weakness of character.
Courage is the minimum level of consciousness required to begin achieving your goals and dreams.
One of the points Hawkins stresses over and over is that Courage Consciousness is the gateway.
It’s the turning point, whereby individuals begin waking up to their own power and potential.
They begin to feel capable instead of constantly overwhelmed, and
they begin sensing that by developing their skills, they can achieve
their goals realistically.
Setting, approaching, and achieving larger life goals begins to become realistic and doable.
What this is implying is that Courage Consciousness is essentially the starting line.
It’s where REAL life truly begins.
Until you access the level of Courage, you’re not going to feel strong nor capable enough of taking control of your own life.
You’ll feel compelled to trust others more than yourself, look to
others for instruction on what to do next, and rely on others to make
you feel good about yourself.
What this all has in common is a high-reliance on external stimuli.
This planet is occupied by the metaphysical equivalent of spiritual toddlers.
It’s so blatantly obvious, it almost hurts.
Most people live their entire lives crawling, never once consciously
realizing that their entire purpose is to learn to stand, and then walk,
and then dream, and then create, and then accomplish – all on their
own.
In fact, spiritual toddlers is the perfect analogy. Most on this
planet are addicted to ego, instant gratification, excessive security,
and are incredibly timid – just like a toddler.
Unless you strive to move up the levels of consciousness, you’re
going to live your entire life inside a body that has the potential of a
Lamborghini, but believes and behaves like it’s just a (used) Toyota
Corolla.
Courage is quite literally THE dividing line between personal strength and empowerment, and weakness of character.
Most people behave like houses propped up on toothpicks, sitting in sand.
They’re unstable, dependent on external circumstances, and have
minimal willpower to make their own waves and choose their own
direction.
Take those same people and exchange their current state with that of
courage, and you’d see their situation transform almost over night.
Therefore, it’s absolutely imperative to begin actively striving toward Courage Consciousness as soon as possible.
So, what will you do? Will you allow Fear to continue to control your
behavior, or will you finally make the transition to Courage
Consciousness once and for all?
